Yellowstone National Park – Located just 18 miles from Moonlight Basin, summer in Yellowstone National Park is a summertime must-see. Experience a driving tour to a number of geothermal wonders, including the world renowned Old Faithful Geyser, hike backcountry trails, watch wildlife, and explore interpretive sites throughout.
Horseback Riding – Cedar Mountain Corrals at Moonlight Basin Resort offers on-site horseback rides through the wilderness surrounding Moonlight Basin properties, exploring trails that meander through forests and up to spectacular alpine views. Family-friendly hourly, half-day, and full-day rides are available for all skill levels, with Friday Night trail rides & cookouts in the summer months.
Hiking & Biking Trails – Whether you’re looking for a vigorous workout or a relaxing stroll, Moonlight Basin offers a spectacular trail system, with more than 10 miles of summer trails that access wide-open landscapes, incredible mountain scenery, beautiful wildflowers, and abundant wildlife viewing. Numerous other well maintained hiking trails travel through the Big Sky area and throughout Yellowstone National Park. Don’t forget your camera!
Guided Fly Fishing Adventures – Montana offers some of the best world-class, blue ribbon fly-fishing in the world, and Moonlight Basin is located in the heart of the action. Moonlight’s informative Mountain Concierge can offer recommendations on surrounding rivers or introduce you to a local fishing guide who can show you his/her favorite spots. Custom clinics and guided fishing trips are available.
Rafting & Kayaking – Enjoy a scenic cruise or a whitewater adventure on Big Sky’s Gallatin River, winding through the rocky and beautiful Gallatin Canyon. Or try your hand at kayaking as you navigate regional placid streams or whitewater rapids with a guide or on your own.
Swimming & Soaking – Swim laps in the Moonlight Spa’s heated outdoor pool, or melt into the hot tub with a cascading waterfall. Complimentary swimming and soaking for all Moonlight Lodging guests.
Zipline & Basecamp Adventures – The Basecamp activity center at neighboring Big Sky Resort features rugged mountain biking and hiking with lift access, zipline and high ropes courses, disc golf, a climbing wall, a bungee trampoline, paint ball, skeet shooting, and other scenic summertime adventures.
